Eunice Ezeoke, the former President of the Women In Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA) Nigeria, was recognized for her exceptional contributions to the maritime industry at the Duchess International Women’s Day Conference 2024 in Nairobi, Kenya. The 5-day event, held at the Weston Hotel from April 17th to 18th, featured empowering sessions, insightful discussions, and memorable moments.
Ezeoke’s dedication to advancing women’s rights and opportunities in the maritime sector, particularly through her leadership at WISTA Nigeria, has been exemplary. Her efforts in promoting diversity, equality, and inclusion serve as an inspiration to many.
During the conference’s Dinner and Awards ceremony on Day 4, Ezeoke was presented with the Outstanding Award for Women in Business. This accolade recognizes her outstanding contributions to creating a more inclusive and equitable environment for women in the shipping and trading industry. Her work aligns with the core values of the International Women’s Day Conference, which seeks to honor and celebrate women who excel in various fields.
Yinka Odeajo, the managing partner of Custodian Global Consult, the event’s organizers, expressed excitement about honoring and showcasing Ezeoke’s achievements. “Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition. Other awardees included Dr. Dorcas Rigathi, the Second Lady of the Republic of Kenya and Spouse of the Deputy President; who received the Torchbearer of Vulnerable Communities Award; Keza Nadia, who received the Business Leadership Award for Women in the Service Industry; Chief Mrs. Elizabeth Ozua, who received another Outstanding Award for Women in Business; Rachael Joan Wanjiru Ndung’u, who received the Distinguished Management Award for Women in the Hospitality and Tourism Industry; and Frank Gisha Mugisha, who received the Excellence Award for Tourism in East Africa.
