Dr. Mrs. Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, a multifaceted woman whose steadfast support and visionary initiatives have significantly impacted Lagos State.
Born on January 8, 1967, in Lagos Island’s Popo Aguda area, Ibijoke Carrena pursued a career in medicine, earning her MBBS from the University of Lagos. She furthered her expertise with postgraduate diplomas in Hospital and Health Management and Anesthesia, alongside master’s degrees in Public Health and Business Administration. Her 25-year tenure with the Lagos State Government saw her rise to Chief Medical Director at Harvey Road Comprehensive Health Centre and later at General Hospital, Somolu.
Transitioning from healthcare to public service as the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. Sanwo-Olu has been a formidable advocate for women and children. She has championed campaigns against sexual and gender-based violence, urging students to speak out against such acts. Her initiatives emphasize the importance of education and empowerment for young individuals, aiming to foster a safer and more equitable society.
In March 2024, Dr. Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to economic empowerment was evident as she provided over 350 residents with business and work tools, including hairdressing kits, tailoring machines, and vulcanizing equipment. This initiative underscores her dedication to fostering self-reliance and financial independence among Lagosians.
