Emerging UK-based Menswear brand SYNDEY-DAVIS, launched with the sole aim of leading the way in innovative, original, sustainable ethical fashion on Saturday, October 30th unveiled its debut collection dubbed ‘SUIBOTSU.’
Formerly both a Womenswear and Menswear brand, Sydney-Davies, now caters exclusively to Menswear, a shift that materialized over the pandemic. Drawing inspiration from its strong ethical and sustainability ethos, newly found vision and love of Japanese culture and fashion, borrowing from the concept of “SUBMERSION” as a means to Isolate, Rejuvenate, Refocus and Evolve into a being of beauty and purpose, the collection, best described as a marriage of imagination and innovation was birthed.
“SUIBOTSU” consists of three shirt silhouettes, each of which incorporates a combination of unique hand-drawn prints developed and inspired through the designer’s love and admiration of ancient Japanese woodblock style drawings and modern bold Text-Print. These hand-drawn aesthetics also pay homage to the endangered Japanese butterfly known as ‘The Purple Emperor’ as a signal to the brand’s sustainability ethos.
Founded in 2015 by Sierra Leonean-born designer and Alexander McQueen trainee, Euphemia Sydney-Davies, the brand, which made its debut on the Africa Fashion Week runway in New York, has since recorded giant strides in the fashion industry. Designer Euphemia-ann’s impressive work has been featured in Vogue, Dazed, Hunger magazines, BBC, ITV, ALJAZEERA, to name a few. She also notably represented her nation at the 2017 Commonwealth Fashion Exchange.
SYNDEY-DAVIS, committed to building power forces through fashion will launch her collection this month and goes on sale from today 1st November 2021
