Dr. (Mrs.) Ronke Soyombo, Special Adviser on Education to Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, has added another prestigious achievement to her portfolio as she was awarded a PhD in Professional Ethics with a specialization in Educational Ethics. This notable academic feat was conferred by Maxwell Christian University in collaboration with the University of Ibadan Consultancy.

Dr. Soyombo, a trailblazer in education reform, received the accolade during the 2025 Convocation Ceremony held at the University of Ibadan. Her extensive contributions to the education sector in Nigeria and internationally were celebrated, underscoring her dedication to child development, transformative teaching methodologies, and capacity-building initiatives.

In her acceptance speech, Dr. Soyombo expressed profound gratitude to God, attributing her success to divine wisdom, her family’s unwavering support, and the backing of Governor Dapo Abiodun. “This achievement is a testament to the possibilities that lie within hard work, dedication, and faith. It wouldn’t have been possible without the encouragement of my family and the vision of His Excellency, Governor Dapo Abiodun, who continuously emphasizes the importance of education in Ogun State,” she remarked.

Dr. Soyombo, who previously served as the Director-General of Quality Assurance under former Lagos State Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, has a well-documented history of educational leadership and reform. Her tenure has been marked by initiatives to raise standards of learning, foster moral development among youth, and equip educators with innovative tools for teaching.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Adebanjo Adedayo, Pro-Chancellor of Maxwell Christian University, commended Dr. Soyombo’s commitment to advancing education in Nigeria. “Dr. Soyombo embodies the ideals of education ethics—integrity, innovation, and excellence. Her work continues to impact countless lives, and we are proud to have her as a beacon of what education in Africa can achieve,” Dr. Adedayo noted.

Dr. Soyombo called on stakeholders to prioritize moral education, emphasizing its role in creating a stable society. “Education is not merely about imparting knowledge; it is about instilling values that sustain societal harmony. Every stakeholder must remain committed to nurturing the moral compass of our youth,” she urged.

Her accomplishment comes at a time when Nigeria’s education sector is seeking transformative leadership to address challenges such as access to quality education, infrastructure gaps, and moral decline among students.

The convocation ceremony, attended by dignitaries, scholars, and education enthusiasts, highlighted the importance of ethics in educational leadership and set the stage for a renewed commitment to excellence in Nigeria’s academic institutions.
