The Grammys will feature an afrobeat category, according to the Recording Academy.
The addition of an Afrobeats category to the Grammys is now being discussed, according to the Recording Academy. This was confirmed by Harvey Manson Jr., the CEO of the Recording Academy.
A proposal must be made in order for the academy to choose to add an Afrobeats category.
To ensure appropriate portrayal of the different shades and styles the Afrobeats sound possesses, work is currently being done on this.
Harvey Manson revealed that prominent figures in the Afrobeats community participated in a listening session hosted by the Recording Academy.
