Talk about being way ahead of one’s contemporaries!
Thessalonika Arzu Embry, boasts of an IQ of 199. Homeschooled and started college at 11, got her bachelor’s in psychology at 14, and at age 16 she had already bagged her master’s and proceeded for her doctorate in aviation psychology.
“I feel honored for the opportunity to help others at an early age. I feel very glad to enter college and help people,” Arzu-Embry said.
The Illinois native who began her Ph.D. program in aviation psychology in fall 2016, was inspired to join the world of aviation by her father, a military veteran and private pilot, who works at O’Hare International Airport.
“When I began to think about a profession, I chose one where I could make an impact,” Black Doctor reports her saying. “I feel honored for the opportunity to help others at an early age.”
Also a published author of “Settled: Justice for All,” “In the Future,” “Then Genius Race,” “Jump the Education Barrier,” and “Perspicacious Investing”, Arzu-Embry has also developed apps for Google and Apple systems.
Although she loved to study, she also loves to play tennis during her spare time.
Thessalonika’s mother, Wonder Embry, said she noticed her daughter’s exceptional gift and passion for learning while homeschooling her.
“I started reading to her my college books and she understood college material at 6 years old, 8 years old,” she said.
“The first topic that I read about was consciousness in sleeping dreams and about the neurons in the brain and I thought that was very interesting to study,” Thessalonika recalled.
According to her mom, she noticed her daughter’s love for learning which encouraged her to enroll the then 11-year-old in classes at Lake County College.
“Academically and mentally she was prepared for it,” her mom said. “And I didn’t want to put a cap on it and hinder her and limit her if she was able to accomplish it. And I just went on and encouraged her to go ahead and make the most of it.”
