Yemisi Edun is the boss lady at First City Monument Bank (FCMB). She became the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer in July 2021, making her the first woman to hold this position. It’s not a coincidence that she got this important job. Yemisi is super qualified and has lots of experience working in the banking world. She has been working for almost 35 years, starting her career at a company called Akintola Williams Deloitte. She joined FCMB in 2000 and has been doing amazing things ever since.
Yemisi Edun has done incredible things in the banking industry to help small businesses and make the bank successful. One of her big achievements is increasing lending to small businesses. This is important because it helps the economy grow and creates more jobs. Yemisi and FCMB have been recognized internationally for their efforts in giving credit to small businesses.
Last year, FCMB celebrated a big milestone. They helped 50,000 women-owned businesses get funding through a program called SheVentures. Over 150 businesses received loans with no interest, and 125 businesses got credit guarantees to secure loans without having to give collateral. The bank’s loans and advances to customers also grew by 37.5%. Yemisi’s leadership has made FCMB a strong and successful bank.
Yemisi Edun has received many awards for her amazing work at FCMB. She has been recognized both in Nigeria and internationally for her contributions to the economy. She studied Chemistry at the University of Ife, Ile-Ife and got a master’s degree in International Accounting and Finance from the University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom. She is a member of several professional organizations and has certifications in accounting and auditing.
