Dinah Elizabeth Akwii, a trailblazing women’s rights advocate from Uganda, is rewriting the narrative for women and girls in her community.

Born into a society where traditional norms often limit women’s roles, Dinah chose not to conform. Instead, she carved out her path by pursuing education relentlessly—earning multiple degrees that have equipped her with the knowledge and credibility to advocate effectively for change.

Dinah is the founder and CEO of DEMIME Enterprises LTD, a platform she established to uplift women through entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, and sustainable development. Through DEMIME, she creates economic opportunities for women in rural Uganda, helping them transform from overlooked community members into confident, self-reliant leaders.

Her activism stretches beyond the business world. Dinah plays an instrumental role in several grassroots and regional initiatives aimed at policy reform, gender equality, and youth empowerment. She has worked closely with NGOs and government bodies to amplify the voices of marginalized women, particularly those affected by displacement and poverty.

In 2025, Dinah was recognized for her continued leadership in Uganda’s development sector and was selected for key mentorship programs that connect African women leaders across the continent. Her story is one of courage, education, and strategic action—a blueprint for overcoming deep-rooted societal barriers.

How do you think traditional structures can evolve to better support empowered women like Dinah?
