Meet DCG Kemi Nanna Nandap, Nigeria’s Third Female Immigration Services Boss

With a rich reservoir of experience and a profound dedication to duty, DCG Kemi Nanna Nandap has consistently demonstrated her capacity to drive meaningful change and foster security within the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS). Distinguished for her knack for transformation and exceptional leadership, Nandap is proving to be a gamechanger in Nigeria’s immigration services.

Assuming the role of Deputy Comptroller-General, overseeing the Migration Directorate of the NIS, Nandap’s exceptional contributions were duly recognized when she was among the 24 Comptrollers elevated to Assistant Comptroller General in December 2021. This promotion underscored her outstanding performance and dedication to service.

In 2022, Nandap assumed the position of Comptroller at the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA) Command, Lagos, succeeding CIS Abdullahi Dalhatu. Under her leadership, the MMA Command witnessed significant achievements, including a decisive crackdown on human trafficking through the Lagos International Airport. Furthermore, her commitment to security was evident in the interception of a pistol and bullets, leading to the arrest of a US-based Nigerian attempting to smuggle them into the country.

Prior to her tenure at the Lagos International Airport, Nandap made a lasting impact as the Comptroller in charge of the Plateau State Command, where she focused on infrastructural and human capital development, showcasing her seasoned leadership within the NIS.

Born on June 3, 1966, in Zaria, Kaduna State, Kemi Nanna Nandap stands as a distinguished figure in the domain of immigration services. Her academic journey led her to the University of Ilorin, where she attained a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. She was married to the late Emmanuel Nanpah Nandap, a retired Lt. Col. who concluded his service in 1999.

Recently, on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, the Presidency confirmed the appointment of DCG Kemi Nanna Nandap as the new Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS). With her appointment taking effect from March 1, 2024, Nandap becomes the third woman to head the service, succeeding Caroline Wura-Ola Adepoju.

Stepping into this new role, Nandap’s leadership is anticipated to make significant contributions to the ongoing evolution of immigration services in the nation. Her track record of excellence and dedication to duty positions her as a beacon of hope and a role model for aspiring leaders in the field of immigration services.
