Nigerian actress Joke Silva is famous for her acting talent, sophisticated aesthetic, and maternal personality.
In Lagos, Silva attended Holy Child College. Silva, a London-born graduate of the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art and the University of Lagos, started her career in movies in the early 1990s.
She took a year out from school during which she started working as an actress before moving to England to enroll in the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London to study drama.
At first, Silva’s parents were against her desire to pursue a career in theater, but they quickly changed their minds and began to support her, delighted with the progress she had achieved in her work.
At the International Conference Centre in Abuja, Silva was presented with a Member of the Order of the Federal Republic, one of Nigeria’s national honors.
Silva is the Lufodo Academy of Performing Arts’s Director of Studies, and her husband previously held the position of chairman. The couple owns a number of businesses under the Lufodo Group, including Lufodo Productions, Lufodo Consult, and Lufodo Distribution, in addition to Lufodo Academy.
She has worked as a curator for the Bank of Industry (BOI) for theater, film, documentaries, poetry, and the 2012 London Olympics; in addition, she is the first managing director of Malete Film Village, which is affiliated with Kwara State University.
Along with her profession as an actor, Silva is a philanthropist and a steadfast advocate for women’s independence and empowerment, supporting their advancement via education and training.
She is married to seasoned actor Olu Jacobs and their marriage is blessed with children.
