Harnessing Creativity Through Play ?? Every facet of today’s world has in no small measure literally become obsessed with technology and of course, our children are not exempted; from television, ipads, video games, phones, laptops… the list just doesn’t stop. No doubt digitalization does have its many benefits, however one cannot but emphasize the importance of raising well rounded individuals in the society.
Early child development is crucial and in order to improve their cognitive, physical, social, and emotional well-being, building confidence, independence and all one must employ intentional meaningful play.
Helping to guide parents in the right techniques and methods is Layal Jade Tinubu, Founder & CEO of Tot Toys; a children’s educational toyshop and learning space which provides an array of education based items such as: Toys, books and activities to help unlock potentials as well as aid child development and learning through play. Tots Toys offers book readings, interactive sessions and activity groups. “The main inspiration behind starting Tots Toys was the realization that there was a huge gap in the educational resources market here in Nigeria – that needed a solution. As a parent, I struggled to access high-quality educational resources for my child. I found myself having to constantly pull resources from the UK or US. Moreover, the fact that there was nowhere that offered a wide range of children’s books, classic stories we all grew up on, resonated with me. Thus, Tots Toys was birthed.” Layla says.
