The landscape of Nigerian politics would be incomplete without reference to H. E. Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire. The top politician who became the first female lawmaker in Lagos State in 1992, upon appointment into the State House of Assembly, thereby launching her career, served as deputy-governor of Lagos state from 2011-2015. She was appointed commissioner for women affairs and poverty alleviation in Lagos state by former governor Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. In 1999, she was also the Electoral Commissioner in Lagos state; a position she held until 2003.
Princess Victoria Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire is currently the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SSAP-SDGs).
The amiable politician who bagged a Diploma in Social Work and Honours degrees in Sociology launched her professional career with a brief stint as an accountant in her father’s firm before proceeding to serve briefly as Front Office Executive at PZ Industries (Nigeria) PLC.
Launching her commitment to public service, she served with recorded achievements as Honourable Member, Lagos State House of Assembly in the third republic; Members, Lagos State Electoral Commissions, Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Women Affairs, Poverty Alleviation, before becoming the Deputy Governor of Lagos State and further securing appointment as the Senior Special Assistant to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
