Aya Chebbi, a Tunisian diplomat and activist, rose to prominence during the 2010/2011 Tunisian Revolution as a political blogger advocating for democracy. Her fearless voice and commitment to social justice caught global attention.

In 2018, Aya made history by becoming the first African Union Special Envoy on Youth and the youngest diplomat in the African Union Commission Chairperson’s Cabinet . In this role, she worked tirelessly to ensure that youth voices were included in policymaking processes across the continent.

Aya’s advocacy extends to gender equality and women’s empowerment. She founded the Nala Feminist Collective, a Pan-African group that focuses on amplifying the voices of African women and girls in leadership and decision-making spaces. Her efforts have been recognized globally.

In 2019, she received the Gates Foundation Campaign Award and was named among Forbes Africa’s 50 Most Powerful Women. Aya’s journey underscores the importance of youth participation in shaping Africa’s future.

How can we further support young leaders like Aya in our communities? Let’s discuss.
