Women in Power and Politics: Irene Naa Torshie Addo

Former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Member of Parliament for Tema West Constituency, Irene Naa Torshie Addo is a politician and attorney from Ghana.

She is a lawyer by profession, and in 1999, she graduated from the University of Warwick with an LLM in gender and development studies.

After losing the New Patriotic Party’s 2015 primary to Carlos Ahenkorah, she was elected as Tema West’s representative to the Ghanaian parliament during the 2008 elections. She took office from 7 January 2009 to 6 January 2017 in that capacity.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo appointed Irene to serve as the Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF).
