Technological advancements afford us the luxury of combating time and distance to reach end goals, ultimately developing our world.

Sewagodimo Matlapeng is a software engineer, tech Youtuber and inclusivity advocate out to change the African narrative. She stands tall amongst South Africa’s most inspiring youngsters.

Passionate about employing technology and programming to solve problems and impact her world through knowledge, helping women developers, she founded groups Indoni Spaces a mentor-mentee group for Black women developers in South Africa and Women@DevC, an inclusivity group for the women developers who are tech community leaders in 15 SSA countries.

Sewagodimo just in her early twenties, found her love for programming while in High School after opting for an IT course, she instantly fell with computer science and further devoted time to teaching underprivileged black women and children in Phokeng community how to code.

The inspiring young woman created the Buza Answers educational app, to help students from less privileged backgrounds get answers and resources which aren’t readily available to them.

She is a proud graduate, holding a Bsc(Hons) in Computer Science and 3D Gaming from UCT.

Sewagodimo has given talks at both national and international conferences such as, DevConfZA, PyConZA, Women in Tech Africa and the Facebook Start Summit. In her spare time she enjoys running and creating tech content for her YouTube channel ‘Sunshine in my Code’ which encourages and simplifies intricacies of coding
