British Prime Minister, Theresa May has made Boris Johnson, the former London mayor who led the Brexit campaign, foreign secretary in her new government.

Johnson is May’s second appointment as Prime Minister; she appointed former foreign minister Philip Hammond as Chancellor of the Exchequer.

May said that ex-Chancellor George Osborne had resigned from the government.

She says her new government would fight “burning injustice” and “build a better Britain”.

This is part of her first public remarks since taking office in London on Wednesday.

“If you’re from an ordinary working class family, life is much less secure than many people in Westminster realise. The government I lead will be driven not by the interests of the privileged few, but by you,” she said.

May said that following the Brexit referendum, Britain would face a time of great national change.

“As we leave the European Union, we will forge a bold new, positive role for ourselves. Together we will build a better Britain,” she said.
