In today’s world, alarming statistics reveal 200 million women and girls have undergone some form of genital mutilation in 31 countries including Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad, Egypt, Eritrea, Liberia, Zambia as well as other countries across Africa. For decades, this violence against women has caused physical and emotional scars, lasting a lifetime, hence calling for urgent efforts to protect the girl child and ensure total combat of FGM.
