In a world dictated by baseless beauty standards and thriving on the unhealthy promotion of #skinbleaching, 24-year old Ethiopian born Sudanese model, Nyakim Gatwech aka Queen of the Dark, stands proudly and unapologetically, owning the skin she’s in and inspiring others.

Nyakim Gatwech’s parents who lived in Maiwut, South Sudan had to flee during the civil war to Gambela, Ethiopia. There, Nyakim was born. But stability was still far for the family as they migrated to Kenya where they lived in refugee camps, until they finally migrated to the US.

Upon migrating to the United States at age 14,
@queennyakimofficial aka #QueenOfTheDark kicked off her Modeling career after featuring in a fashion show for St. Cloud State University.

The model world brought on constant severe criticism over her rich melanin skin tone which affected her self esteem at some point, but bravely she was able to rise above it and embrace all of her:

“I was fine with my self-esteem and I started being torn down by society, and I started looking at myself,” she said in an interview with CBS “Do I blend in with what the society considered to be beautiful?”

Today, Nyakim boasts of a thriving modeling career, massive following on social media with a staggering net worth of $4 million attributed to her super stunning photoshoots and endorsements deals with major companies like Fashion Nova and Loreal Paris

Keep winning ?
