Nandi Madida uploaded videos and images of her ‘Colour’ fashion label making its grand debut at New York Fashion Week on Saturday, which was held at the Oxford Fashion Studio in New York City.
The singer, actress and now fashion designer, collaborated with designers Philani Lindokuhle, Kentse Masilo and Josh Patron for her Autumn/Winter collection which is to be launched worldwide later in March this year. Models donned bright wigs, traditional Zulu accessories and make-up along with the bright coloured outfit that were attributed to the colours that represented Autumn and Winter.
Colour Fashion label is a brand that consists of African inspired outfits in bright colours, with an assortment of gowns, jumpsuits and tailored suits. The brand is aimed at displaying the power, intelligence and beauty that is displayed by the African woman.
Madida’s show was widely received by the shows attendees, with a standing ovation for the creator when she took to the runway, alongside fellow designer Patron. It looks like another South African fashion designer has found a place on the New York Fashion Week radar, and most are anxious to see what Colour comes out with for their Spring/Summer collection.
