“True humanity is found in how much of ourselves we give to make others better.” Those words perfectly capture the essence of Layal Jade Tinubu — a woman who has built her life and work around compassion, empowerment, and purpose. More than an entrepreneur, she is a nurturer of people and ideas, using her influence to shape lives across Africa. Her story is one of quiet strength, where vision meets heart and success is measured not by status, but by impact.

Born on March 23, 1991, to a Lebanese father and a Nigerian mother of Igbo descent, Layal’s heritage reflects the richness of two cultures — one that values resilience, the other that prizes community. She grew up between London, Lagos, and New Jersey, experiences that gave her a global perspective and a deep appreciation for diversity. With a degree in Politics and African Studies from SOAS, University of London, and a Master’s in Entrepreneurship and Business Management from the University of Surrey, she embodies intellect grounded in purpose.

Layal began her career at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), where she served as a Senior Associate Consultant, developing business solutions that bridged the UK and African markets. But beyond her corporate achievements, she carried a passion for nurturing minds — especially young ones. This passion birthed Tots Toys, an educational toyshop and learning space that encourages children to learn through play. For her, play is not just fun; it’s a form of discovery and the foundation of lifelong learning.

Through Tots Toys, Layal is transforming early childhood education in Nigeria. Her approach merges creativity with development, giving parents and educators tools to inspire curiosity in children. She believes that learning should be joyful and inclusive — that every child deserves the freedom to imagine, explore, and grow. Her dedication reflects a deeper conviction that the best investment any society can make is in its children.

In 2018, Layal extended her mission beyond education by co-founding the Noella Foundation, a platform devoted to empowering youth and women. Its flagship initiative, Be Empowered, has provided millions in grants to female entrepreneurs across Nigeria — ₦40 million in 2024 and ₦70 million by 2025. The foundation’s model goes beyond funding; it mentors, trains, and equips women to build sustainable businesses. Layal’s vision is clear: when women rise, entire communities thrive.

Though of mixed heritage, Layal identifies deeply with Africa — not just as a place, but as a purpose. Her work speaks to the heart of humanity: creating opportunities, nurturing potential, and inspiring change. Whether through a child’s laughter in a learning space or a woman’s triumph in business, her impact is felt quietly but powerfully across the continent.

Layal Jade Tinubu’s life is a story of grace, generosity, and growth. She represents a generation of African women who lead with empathy and intention. In her world, success is not about recognition but responsibility — the responsibility to uplift others. And as her guiding belief reminds us, true humanity is never about what we gain; it is about what we give.
