From being overlooked and shunned at, Hanif Johnson’s quest to change status quo today has placed him amongst America’s most respected persons.
He is the youngest Magisterial District Judge in Pennsylvania.
Growing up was tough for Johnson who was raised by a single mum. He often found himself at the wrong side of the law on different occasions as a teenager. Subsequently he was jailed three times.
Overtime, he made a life-changing decision to turn his life around, he decided to try out track and field, it paid off big! It fueled passion in him and he became a champ, bagging several honours.
Johnson graduated from Penn State in 2012, with a B.S. in Economics and proceeded to work several firms.
A bold decision at age 26; A warm embrace was far from the equation, when he expressed interest in running for the district judge seat. He was laughed at in his face because of his young age during his campaign and doors were bluntly shut on him. But he held on strongly because of his desire to save lives because he knew just how it felt to be innocent sometimes yet not been given a listening ear as a person of color.
At age 27, in November 2017, he became the youngest elected judge in Pennsylvania after winning the seat in the general election for the Dauphin County Magisterial District.
Hanif Johnson defeated Claude Phipps in the general election for the Dauphin County Magisterial District capturing 953 out of the total 1,300 votes.
