Today we celebrate one of Nigeria’s most powerful performers, the exceptionally talented Clarion Chukwura!
Born Clara Nneka Oluwatoyin Folashade Chukwurah on 24 July 1964 in Lagos, Nigeria to a family of four and the only girl, the star actress who hails from Anambra State had always known her calling, she studied Acting and Speech at the Department of Dramatic Arts at the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University.
In 1980, Chukwura kicked her acting career and landed her first movie role two years later in 1982’s Money Power. She continued acting then two years later she gained more recognition when she landed a role on the popular 1984 television soap opera, Mirror in the Sun.
The veteran actress makes history as the first Nigerian to win the Best Actress award at the 1982 FESPASCO film festival in Burkina Faso.
She is also a proud recipient of the Best Actress in a Leading Role at the 2014 Africa Movie Academy Awards.
Chukwura has starred in other movies such as: Fiery Force, Money Power, Farewell to Babylon, Igbotic Love(LMAO), Forbidden Choice etc.
The Nollywood magnet is the mother of famed music video director Clarence Peters.
