Grammy Nominations 2022: H.E.R And Doja Cat Are The Most Nominated Women! The 411

The nominees for the 64th annual Grammy Awards are out and singer-songwriter H.E.R and rapper Doja Cat with eight nominations bag the most nominations for 2022 for females.

The nominations were officially announced on Tuesday with Jon Batiste leading the pack with a whopping 11 nominations spanning
seven Fields: General Field, R&B, Jazz, American Roots Music, Music For Visual Media, Classical, and Music Video/Film. Justin Bieber, Doja Cat, and H.E.R. come next with the second-most nominations with eight and Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo follow with seven nods.

Rapper and mogul Jay Z makes Grammy history with three more nominations this year, bringing his career total to 83 becoming the sole individual with the most GRAMMY nominations of all time and with that JAY-Z and Beyoncé officially become the most-nominated couple in GRAMMY history, as Bey is the most-nominated female with 79. (Beyonce grabbed four more trophies last year, making her the female artist with the most wins at 28. JAY-Z is currently at 23.). Paul McCartney follows JAY-Z as the second-most-nominated artist of all time, adding two more this year to bring his career total to 81.

Meanwhile Afrobeat veteran, Femi Kuti and his son, Made also bagged nods for their Legacy+ album, while Wizkid and Burna Boy got nods as well.

Wizkid bagged two: Best Global Music Album and Best Global Music Performance, while Burna Boy was nominated in the Best Global Music Performance for his collaboration with Angelique Kidjo. Femi Kuti’s ‘Pa Pa Pa’ and Wizkid and Tems song ‘Essence’ were also nominated in this category.

This year’s GRAMMY Awards air on CBS on Jan. 31, 2022.

For the first time in 30 years, nominations are decided solely by the voting membership after the elimination of the controversial secret committees.
