Sleepless nights, yearning for simple pleasures such as food, shelter, warmth of family and alas, paying the supreme sacrifice – death. Beneath the glories of the title, lies untold pain of valiant soldiers, fallen heroes who selflessly gave their all in active service, in the fight for peace, unity and freedom, leaving behind loved ones, ironically, often forgotten by society.
Changing the narrative, on Thursday September 17, 2020 at the Army Cantonment, Maryland, Lagos State, Nigeria, it was a truly heartfelt moment to behold as Bimpe Akinfolajimi, Convener Honeybols Foundation joining hands with the Nigerian army and well meaning individuals, empowered widows of fallen heroes in the Nigerian Army through provision of food items, grinding machines, chest freezers and monetary donation.
Serving as MC for the event graced by dignitaries and we’ll meaning Nigerians were veteran actress Fausat Balogun as well as Wumi Toriola who served as MC of the event.
In his speech, General officer commanding (GOC) Commended Honeybols foundation for deeming it fit to identify with the widows and children of fallen heroes who paid the supreme price to ensure Nigeria is safe.
Making merry – Fun wasn’t excluded from the mix as widows after series of motivational talkes featuring personal stories amongst others danced their hearts away.
