Duchess International Magazine honours Kenya’s Second Lady, Dorcas Rigathi, Elizabeth Ozua, Joan Wanjiru Ndung’u, Keza Nadia, Eunice Ezeoke, Frank Gisha Mugisha with awards at the second edition of its annual Duchess International Women’s Day Conference in Nairobi, Kenya.
Duchess International Magazine celebrated women from all over Africa who have made significant contributions to their fields. The event took place at Weston Hotel, Nairobi, Kenya 21st of April 2024, and recognised women in various categories.
The highly anticipated second edition of the Duchess International Women’s Day Conference, #DIWDC2024 in Nairobi, Kenya, was a four-day event, which began on the 17th of April. The conference was filled with empowering sessions, insightful discussions, and memorable moments.
The conference kicked off with a vibrant meet and greet session, where participants from around the world reunited with old friends and connected with new faces. The atmosphere was electric as attendees from South Korea, the U.K., the U.S.A., the Republic of Ireland, Rwanda, Kenya, Lagos, Nigeria, and beyond shared their excitement for the event.
One of the highlights of the conference was a tree-planting initiative led by Bolaji Odunuga, the Convener of the event and Publisher of Duchess International Magazine. Delegates of the conference gathered at Ngong Forest in Bomas of Kenya to plant trees, symbolizing the empowerment of future generations and the initiation of a movement of mentally resilient African women.
During the conference’s Dinner and Awards ceremony on Day 4, women excelling in different sectors across the continent were celebrated. Eunice Ezeoke was presented with the Outstanding Award for Women in Business. This accolade recognizes her outstanding contributions to creating a more inclusive and equitable environment for women in the shipping and trading industry. Dr. Dorcas Rigathi, the Second Lady of the Republic of Kenya and Spouse of the Deputy President received the Torchbearer of Vulnerable Communities Award. Other awardees included Keza Nadia, who received the Business Leadership Award for Women in the Service Industry; Chief Mrs. Elizabeth Ozua, who received another Outstanding Award for Women in Business; Rachael Joan Wanjiru Ndung’u, who received the Distinguished Management Award for Women in the Hospitality and Tourism Industry; and Frank Gisha Mugisha, who received the Excellence Award for Tourism in East Africa.
Yinka Odeajo, the managing partner of Custodian Global Consult, the event’s organizers, expressed excitement about honoring and showcasing the awardees’ achievements. “Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition. We look forward to celebrating your achievements and sharing this momentous occasion with you,” Odeajo stated.
