Grammy winning rapper Cardi B is one of the hottest acts to ever grace the music scene but comic star and actor Chris Rock reveals the stunner is super versatile and could have had a real shot in the comedy world.
Chris Rock in a chat with Jimmy Fallon revealed he once encouraged Cardi B to pursue a career in comedy instead of music and even went ahead to pitch a comedy show involving the rapper to a major network.
“My kids showed me this Cardi B girl, and she didn’t have a record out or anything,” Rock told Jimmy Fallon during an appearance on “The Tonight Show.”
“And I was like, ‘We should go show it to’ – I’m not even going to say what network,” Rock added. “So I went – me, Cardi B, and her management – to kind of get a show going.”
“It just never happened,” the comedian said. “But she told me about her rap at the time, and I was like, ‘Yeah, yeah, that’s good. You’re a comedy star.’”
Even though the network didn’t buy his pitch, the comedy star insists, #Cardib got it!
“She is really… I think Cardi B is the funniest woman, or one of the funniest people, you know. It’s like Chappelle, Cardi, you know what I mean?
Like, in the standings right now, who are the funniest people in the world? Cardi’s right up there. She’s neck and neck with Bill Burr. She’s good, man. You know, Bill puts a bit more writing into it, but Cardi can hang with anybody.” He says.
Fingers crossed!
