Bunmi Adeniba Appointed Coca-cola New Marketing Director

Marketing guru and experienced commercial operator, Bunmi Adeniba has been appointed the new Marketing Director of Coca-Cola Nigeria Plc.

Boasting of a wealth of experience
in brand development, innovation design, and quality management systems, Adeniba, is the First Vice President of the Advertisers Association of Nigeria (ADVAN) and the Regional Vice President Africa of the World Federation of Advertisers (WFA). Prior to her new appointment, she was the Marketing Director & Division Lead – Homecare Ghana & Nigeria of Unilever Nigeria Plc.

Her new responsibilities at The Coca-Cola Company will see her overseeing the marketing activities of the carbonated soft drink (CSD) giant, ensuring that they win consistently in this highly competitive market.

Adeniba a leading force in Nigeria’s branding and marketing industry is an experienced marketing professional and commercial operator with cross-functional experience in brand building, new category development, innovation management and quality management. She also has a strong passion for people, coaching and building high-performance teams.

She has worked in multinationals such as Cadbury Nigeria Plc, Mondelez International, Reckitt, among others where she has contributed to the growth of the brands. Adeniba kicked off her career in the hospitality industry as a Food and Beverage manager in Enugu in Eastern Nigeria, before proceeding to join the management trainee scheme of Cadbury Nigeria.

On her career start, Adeniba says:
“I started off at Cadbury as a management trainee and with glee I still describe my one year stint as a solid mini MBA, both in class and off class during the rotational stints. The intrigue for brand marketing as I described earlier started from here. I transitioned from Supply chain to marketing there and had the privilege to join the marketing team just at the time the flagship brand was being relaunched and repositioned.

“So, it was a fast-track hands-on accelerated on-the-job learning. Then, I got to work on a breakout innovation with a completely new category coming from a merger of two organisations. That again gave me a unique experience on building from scratch, level zero to go-to-market. I had a short stint at RB, then moved on to Unilever where I have worked across four different categories on some of the iconic brands with powerful purpose expressions that give expression to brands as a force for good with true lasting impact.”

A core advocate of women empowerment, she is a 2018 CSC Leader, a global program for exceptional senior leaders chosen from government, business, and non-governmental organizations from the Commonwealth’s 53 member countries.

Adeniba was named by Leading Ladies Africa one of the fifty Ladies in Corporate Nigeria, and Brand communicator named her one of the top 50 women in marketing and communication in Nigeria.

She holds an MBA from Hult Business School in Boston as well as a certificate in Strategic Marketing Management from Harvard Business School in Boston, Massachusetts, USA.

Bunmi Adeniba is a member of the Institute of Directors (IOD), the National Institute of Marketing (NIMN), the Chartered Institute of Marketing in the United Kingdom (MCIM), the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON), and the American Society of Quality (ASQ). She is a Digital Marketing Institute Certified Digital Marketing Professional (CDMP).
