Wife of the President Aisha Buhari, on Saturday, 12th of March, 2016, noted that poor access to health care is one of the biggest challenges women and children are facing in Nigeria.
She made this note at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where she hosted the wives of the Heads of Mission to a cocktail.
She continued by saying that these challenges are not hopeless and that her initiative, “Future Assured”, is a platform for improving and promoting the health status of the vulnerable but marginalized section of the population, adding that her doors are wide open for further input in the health care sector and to those that can have positive impact on children.
While commending the efforts of her guests, she reiterated that the wives of Heads of Mission have important roles to play, as they are expected to promote the social and cultural image of their respective countries which she holds in high esteem.
She explained that her meeting with them was not only an opportunity to honour them but it was also an opportunity to interact with them on issues of mutual benefit to both parties for sustained cordial relationship.
Also present at the event was the wife of the Vice-President, Dolapo Osinbajo, who thanked Aisha Buhari for the opportunity to interact with the wives of Heads of Mission in order to explore areas of collaboration between Nigeria and other countries and added that the world is indeed a global village were things are happening and felt globally.
Elza Lima, Wife of the Brazilian Ambassador, spoke on behalf of other wives of Heads of Mission and commended Aisha Buhari for the initiative and said it would strengthen the relationship of their various countries and Host, Nigeria.
