In the bustling heart of Alimosho, Lagos, a dynamic leader is stepping forward with a mission to transform her community. Iyalaje Ajoke Moromoke Aminat Obe, popularly known as AMA, is vying for the chairmanship of Agbado-Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area (LCDA)—and her vision is one of empowerment, development, and direct impact.
A Life of Service
A trained journalist, artist, and grassroots philanthropist, AMA is no stranger to public service. With over two decades of political tutelage—including roles as Director of Projects for Senator Ganiyu Solomon’s campaign and leadership positions in her residential estate—she has honed the skills needed to drive meaningful change.
“Mine has been a life of service at various levels,” she shared in a recent interview. “I am an achiever. There is nothing I set my heart on that I cannot accomplish, and this is the energy I want to bring to Agbado-Oke-Odo.”
Empowering Women, Elevating Communities
AMA’s passion lies in uplifting women and children, a commitment demonstrated through her long-running empowerment programmes. Over 50 women in the LCDA have already benefitted from skills acquisition initiatives designed to boost economic independence.
But her ambitions stretch further. She envisions a community library project—an educational hub many thought impossible for an LCDA—alongside environmental initiatives to enhance cleanliness and public health.
Harnessing Resources for Grassroots Development
Rather than relying solely on council funds, AMA plans to leverage her *extensive network* as a journalist and administrator to attract partnerships. “I don’t see myself walking into an organisation with a proposal for our people and leaving empty-handed,” she said confidently.
Her strategy? Collaboration. By working with NGOs, businesses, and government agencies, she aims to bring sustainable projects—from youth development to infrastructure—to Agbado-Oke-Odo.
A Call for Change
With poverty and inadequate amenities plaguing many Nigerian communities, AMA believes the time for action is now. “The resources are there,” she insists. “What’s missing is the right leadership to harness them.”
If elected, she promises a government that listens, innovates, and delivers—a refreshing approach in grassroots politics.
What’s Next?
As the election approaches, AMA’s message is clear: Agbado-Oke-Odo deserves better, and she’s ready to lead the charge. Will her blend of compassion, experience, and strategic vision win over voters? Only time will tell.
