Miriam Olusanya is the Managing Director of Guaranty First Bank, the first female to hold the position since it was established in 1990. She assumed this position in July 2021.
She has over 23 years of banking experience across various units which includes; transaction services, asset and liability management, financial markets, corporate finance, and investor relations.
She joined Guaranty Trust Bank in 1998 as an executive trainee after working with SmithKline Beecham Nigeria (now GlaxoSmithKline – GSK) for 2 years.
She had a brief period in Transactions Services and later moved to the Bank’s Treasury Group in 1999 where she managed the local and foreign currency trading desks. In 2003 and 2004, she became the Bank’s Chief Dealer and Treasurer respectively.
She led the team that secured the appointment of the Bank as a Primary Dealer/ Market Maker in Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) Bonds with the Debt Management Office (DMO) in 2016.
Mrs. Olusanya holds a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Science from the University of Ibadan, and a Master’s degree in Business Administration (Finance and Accounting) from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom.
She also obtained the professional ACI (Association Cambiste Internationale) Dealing certification, from the Financial Markets Association. She has attended several courses and Executive programs at institutions such as the Cranfield School of Management.
