When you talk about corporate giants and nightlife rhythms, Georgia Akwudike bosses both worlds, seamlessly balancing both realms. By day, she is the dynamic Director of Sub-Saharan Africa Operations for Amazon UK. By night, she transforms into “The Executive DJ P.I.P,” setting the dance floor ablaze with her electrifying sets.
Georgia’s journey into the corporate world is a story of determination and grace. Graduating from the University of Portharcourt in 2011 with a B.Sc. in Accounting, she began her career at Seamfix. She quickly earned her Chartered Accountant certification from ICAN, which set the stage for her subsequent roles at KPMG and PwC. Her turning point came in 2015 when she secured a fully funded scholarship from Total Energies to pursue a Master’s in International Accounting and Finance at EDHEC Business School in France.
Upon completing her M.Sc., Georgia’s path took an unexpected turn. Despite facing challenges in securing finance roles, she attended a career fair by Amazon, which introduced her to the Pathways Operations Management program. Despite not having an MBA, her tenacity paid off, and she joined Amazon UK in 2016. Over the next seven and a half years, she thrived, earning five promotions and working across six cities. Today, as the Director of Sub-Saharan Africa Operations, Georgia oversees supply chain, procurement, warehousing, distribution, and transportation, ensuring top-tier customer experiences.
Balancing her high-stakes corporate role with her passion for music is no small feat. Georgia is a resident DJ at a popular club in Manchester and carefully manages her time to avoid burnout. Initially eager to take on numerous gigs, she soon realized the need for a sustainable pace. Now, she focuses on her weekly residency, occasionally taking on additional gigs and curating content for her social media.
Her inspiration for DJing stems from her deep love for music. Despite a demanding career, she seized the opportunity to attend DJ school in 2022, quickly progressing from beginner to professional within three months. Her perseverance and passion led to her first gigs in December 2022, and since then, she has performed at over 60 events.
Georgia’s unique approach as “The Executive DJ P.I.P.” sets her apart. The acronym P.I.P. stands for “Primus Inter Pares,” meaning “First among Equals,” a standard of excellence she embodies in all her endeavors. Her meticulous preparation, professional demeanor, and vibrant social media presence ensure that each performance is an exceptional experience.
As a leader in two male-dominated fields, Georgia advocates for diversity and inclusion. She believes in the power of intentionality, education, and deliberate actions to foster a diverse and inclusive workplace. Her advice to professionals looking to pursue their passions is straightforward: “Just do it. Do not be afraid to take the first step.”
Looking ahead, Georgia envisions a future where her corporate expertise and passion for music intersect in new and exciting ways. With corporate DJ gigs already under her belt, including Amazon EU’s 20th Anniversary event, she continues to carve out a niche that blends her dual worlds seamlessly.
