Aisha Yusuf Ishaku’s journey from law to interior design exemplifies the transformative power of passion and resilience. Initially trained as a lawyer, Aisha’s career path was influenced by her late father’s aspirations for her. Despite her personal interest in architecture, she pursued law to honor her father’s wishes.
After practicing law for two years, she decided to prioritize her family and left her legal career. This decision led her to explore her longstanding passion for interior design, marking the beginning of a new chapter in her professional life .In 2010, Aisha began freelancing in interior design, channeling her creative energy into transforming spaces. Recognizing the need to formalize her business acumen, she enrolled in the Owner-Manager Programme at Lagos Business School.
This experience equipped her with the necessary skills to establish Designtactics Limited, a company dedicated to creating functional and aesthetically pleasing interiors that align with clients’ budgets and styles .Understanding the importance of nurturing talent, Aisha founded Design Tactics Academy in 2016. This institution serves as the training arm of Designtactics Limited, focusing on imparting interior design skills and entrepreneurial management knowledge.
Through the academy, Aisha aims to groom a new generation of top-notch interior designers and focused entrepreneurs who will make significant contributions to the industry .A significant milestone in Aisha’s journey was the establishment of a ₦56 million furniture manufacturing facility in Yaba, Lagos. This initiative was driven by challenges faced during the COVID-19 pandemic, which disrupted international supply chains and highlighted the need for local production.
By investing in this facility, Aisha not only reduced reliance on imported furniture but also created employment opportunities and contributed to the growth of Nigeria’s local furniture industry .Aisha’s contributions extend beyond her business ventures. As the Vice President of the African Association of Interior Designers, she plays a pivotal role in shaping the industry’s future. Her commitment to excellence and innovation has positioned her as a leading figure in Nigeria’s interior design landscape.
