After a long and difficult journey, British-Sierra Leonean journalist and CEO of OkayAfrica, Isha Sesay announced the birth of her baby girl, Naimah Yasmine Kadi Sesay, on her official Instagram page.

Isha Sesay’s journey to motherhood had been a challenging one. In her emotional announcement, she expressed her gratitude for the love and support she received from her near and far friends. Sesay was overwhelmed by the experience of motherhood, and her heart feels like a truly foreign organ in her body.

Her daughter’s arrival has transformed her life completely, and she is now ready to embrace the joys and challenges of being a mother.

However, her joy was preceded by a sudden onset of preeclampsia, which unleashed skyrocketing blood pressure, hemorrhaging, toxemia, and fluid overload. Despite this, Isha was thankful for the round-the-clock medical care led by her outstanding OB/GYN, Dr. Clarel Antoine, and her doula, Mslemonhoney, who provided mind-body-spirit care throughout her pregnancy journey.

Thankfully, Isha and her daughter, Naimah, are now back home, and she is grateful to all those who followed her pregnancy journey, checked on them, prayed for them, and sent well-wishes.

As she embarks on her new journey as a mother, Isha Sesay looks forward to sharing the triumphs and travails of motherhood in the days ahead. Her daughter, Naimah, is indeed her peace and blessing, and she is eager to embrace the joys and challenges of motherhood.
