The magnificent Mont-Saint-Michel stands proudly as one of France’s most stunning and unforgettable tourist attractions sights.

The tidal island set in the bay where Normandy and Brittany merge is said to be about 3,000 feet [900 metres] in circumference.
Originally called Mont-Tombe, topped by a gravity-defying medieval monastery, it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1979 and later became known as Mont-Saint-Michel in the 8th century.
