After just 20 months at Netflix, Channing Nicole Dungey one of Hollywood’s top African American executive the first black American president of a major broadcast television networks is leaving her job as VP Original Content and Head of Drama, at the streaming giant.
Dungey while at Netflix lent her expertise overseeing a large portion of its streaming content including drama overall deals with Shonda Rhimes, Kenya Barris, Steven Deknight, Barack and Michelle’s Higher Ground Productions among others.
“I’ve known Channing for many years, and it’s been a pleasure working closer with her,” said Bajaria. “She’s a terrific executive who’s always carved her own path, and although we will miss her, we wish her all the best for the future.”
Prior to Netflix, Dungey had a number of roles at Walt Disney Co.’s ABC, there, she became the first African American to lead entertainment programming on network television.
Dungey’s departure comes on the heels of her allegedly contending for the job of President of Warner Bros.
