Today, we celebrate the extraordinary life and achievements of Her Excellency, Ambassador, Prof. Mrs. Olufolake Abdulrazaq, the First Lady of Kwara State. Known affectionately as “Mama Kwara,” Abdulrazaq is a pace setting diplomat, devoted mother, and compassionate humanitarian who has significantly impacted her community and beyond.

Born on August 2, 1967, in Lagos, Olufolake Abdulrazaq’s early years were marked by a blend of Nigerian roots and international education. After beginning her education in the United States, she returned to Nigeria to complete her studies, eventually earning a Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Lagos in 1988. Her academic journey continued with a Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communication and a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the same institution. Recognizing her contributions to gender development and governance, she was conferred with honorary doctorate degrees from the European American University and the Geofidel Institute for Leadership and Management in London.

Abdulrazaq’s public service career began in 1993 at the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where she rapidly ascended through the ranks. Her diplomatic prowess saw her serve in pivotal roles across Nigerian missions in London, Pretoria, and Paris. As a seasoned diplomat, she has been instrumental in organizing presidential visits and representing Nigeria at high-profile international forums, including the United Nations General Assembly and the World Economic Forum.

As the First Lady of Kwara State, Abdulrazaq’s passion for humanitarian work shines through her establishment of the Ajike People’s Support Center. This initiative aims to improve the lives of the indigent and less privileged in society, addressing key issues such as health, education, and economic empowerment. Her efforts have earned her numerous accolades, including the Daily Independent Newspaper North Central First Lady of the Year and the African Peace Magazine’s African Peace Legend Award.

Abdulrazak doesn’t just stop at humanitarian endeavors, she is deeply involved in sports and creative arts. She holds several traditional titles, including Yeye Aare Soludero of Offa and Erelu of Ilado and Inagbe Islands. Her commitment to youth development is evident in her roles as the National Vice President of the Nigeria Baseball and Softball Association and President of District 03 Nigeria Little League.
