International Women’s Day is an annual celebration, set aside to celebrate the achievements of successful women.It is a global celebration which aims to inspire women across the world.
Looking at its achievements, During the struggle for gender equality,There was a protest staged by International Ladies Garment Workers Union against long working hours in New York which was successfully ended to their Aim.
On March 8, 1914 Women’s Day was celebrated in Germany and since the tradition has continued. On this day, activists wear purple ribbon on their wrist. Purple color symbolizes justice and dignity which relates to women’s equality.
Someone rightly said that,‘Behind every successful man, there is a woman’ and perhaps this saying highlights, the major contribution of women towards the society’.
Women are now recently seen in Top areas of governance and are in good performance, President of Liberia Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, President of Argentina Cristina Fernande De Kirchner, President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite are good examples of successful women who have proved the female gender strong and up to task.

Majority of us might actually agree with these examples and saying that ” a women is best defined as a symbol of positivity, determination, strong will-power, courage and lot more, which is very visible.
The International Women’s Day is celebrated based on the female’s contribution in building the society and making it a better place to live . A women is a wife, mother, sister, daughter and without them our life is meaningless.
However, this year’s celebration falls on Tuesday, March 8. The first international women’s day was marked on February 28th 1909 in the united states, and its roots are in campaigning for better pay, gender equality and voting rights.
This year, events will take place across Britain and the world to celebrate the achievements of women.
In 1911 international women’s day was observed for the first time in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland on March 19. Over a million people attended rallies campaigning for women’s rights to work, vote, be trained, to hold public office and end discrimination.
International Women’s Day was later transferred to 8 March and has remained the global date for the event ever since.
Examining these achievements of women globally, it is indeed sacrosanct that the International women’s Day is a day to be reckoned with.
