Bukky Oshinowo is a woman of many talents. She is a lawyer, writer, public speaker, and philanthropist, among other things. But what makes her stand out is her unwavering dedication to empowering black and African women. Her journey has been full of challenges, but she has overcome them all with grace and determination.
Growing up in Nigeria, Bukky was acutely aware of the gender-based barriers that many women face. Despite the fact that she was a high achiever in school, she faced skepticism and doubt from those around her. But she refused to let their narrow-mindedness hold her back. She went on to study law at the University of Lagos, where she was one of the top students in her class.
After graduating, Bukky began her career as a lawyer, working for several prestigious law firms in Nigeria. But she soon realized that her true passion lay in using her legal expertise to empower others. She founded the Women’s Rights and Empowerment Initiative, an organization that provides legal aid and support to women who have been victims of gender-based violence.
Through her work with the Women’s Rights and Empowerment Initiative, Bukky has helped countless women find justice and reclaim their power.
