The annual award ceremony, in its 27th year previously set for Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022, held on Sunday, March 13th alongside the British Oscars ( BAFTA) celebrating the finest in cinematic achievement saw Will Smith scoop Best Actor for “King Richard”, “The Power of the Dog,” landed Jane Campion Best Director as well as took home Best Picture. “Succession,” “Mare of Easttown” and “Ted Lasso” smiled home.
The Critics Choice Awards is chosen by almost 500 members of North America’s largest critics organization.
“The role of the Critics Choice Awards in the entertainment world has grown exponentially over the past quarter century,” CCA CEO Joey Berlin said in a statement when this year’s CCA nominations were announced. “When the pandemic made us move our show date from its traditional kick off in January into the heart of the awards season, we felt the need to add a second stage in London to make sure that all our honorees would have the opportunity to participate in the live telecast. Two parties, two networks, two hosts – it’s going to be a heck of a night – on two continents!”
Hosted by Taye Diggs for the third time but with co-host Nicole Byer, the 2022 Critics Choice Awards were held in both London and Los Angeles.
