A century and a half years later after her selfless and heroic act as a Union spy, Harriet Tubman is being inducted into the U.S. Military Intelligence Corps Hall of Fame, according to The Washington Post.
Abolitionist and Union spy Harriet Tubman was a former slave who freed others, she is widely regarded as one of the most revered symbols of freedom. A fearless leader, she also served as a secret spy and military leader.
Born Araminta Ross in Dorchester County, later to be known as Harriet Tubman, conductor of the Underground Railroad. In 1849, Tubman turned her life around after successfully escaping up north, to Philadelphia, unfulfilled, she returned back to the South from time to time to free hundreds of enslaved Black people. Her work eventually became known as the Underground Railroad,
“I was the conductor of the Underground Railroad for eight years, and I can say what most conductors can’t say – I never ran my train off the track, and I never lost a passenger,” Tubman once said.
Christopher Costa, executive director of the International Spy Museum in Washington, D.C., speaking about Tubman’s work, said;
“What most Americans don’t know is down in South Carolina, she was part of a small scouting unit that collected intelligence behind enemy lines on the Confederacy. She was not only involved with spying and scouting; she almost operated like a Special Operations specialist. It is an extraordinary story.”
Tubman also made history as the “first woman to successfully plan and lead a military expedition during the Civil War.”
When asked why she would risk her life in this way, Tubman once said, “The good Lord has come down to deliver my people, and I must go and help Him.”
“She worked with Col. James Montgomery, and he was a believer in guerrilla warfare. It was a mix of espionage, scouting, and reconnaissance…This was a five-foot woman, but she was tough as nails. Not only were they collecting intelligence, but they raided the Confederacy. They swarmed from the rivers and raided and torched homes and warehouses that were Confederate supply depots,” Costa told reporters.
Tubman’s legacy has been preserved over the years with befitting memorials such as a museum honoring her set to open in New Jersey, and a statue in her likeness located in the Maryland House. Recently, the Biden administration announced it is gearing efforts towards finally giving Tubman a well deserved honour by putting her face on the $20 bill.

Lederhaut, die sogenannte Dermis, gestochen, um ein dauerhaft bleibendes Motiv zu
schaffen. Diese Farben sind eine Mischung aus Pigmenten und mehreren Chemikalien. Laut Europäischer
Chemikalienagentur (ECHA) würden sie „gefährliche Stoffe enthalten, die Hautallergien und andere schwerwiegendere Auswirkungen auf die Gesundheit wie genetische Mutationen und Krebs verursachen.” Farbpigmente könnten über die Haut zudem in verschiedene Organe wie Lymphknoten und Leber gelangen. Im Jahr 2015 hat die Europäische Kommission die ECHA beauftragt, die Gesundheitsrisiken von Chemikalien in Tätowierfarben und Permanent Make-up zu bewerten und zu prüfen.

wann”, sagt er. Aber die Farben seien auf jeden Fall in Produktion. So lange werde er eben in Schwarz-Weiß und Grautönen weiter tätowieren. Ausgefallene Körperstellen etwa der Kehlkopf würden im Münsterland kaum gefragt. Er geht davon aus, dass das vorläufig noch kein ernstes Problem gibt: Seine Kunden aus Ahaus und einem etwa 100 Kilometer großen Umkreis seien insgesamt etwas „ruhiger”
als beispielsweise Kunden von Tattoostudios im Ruhrgebiet.
„Vieles bewegt sich im Rahmen von kleinen Symbolen, Unendlichkeits-Schleifen, Namen oder Blumen”, sagt Thomas Tanriverdi.
Auch große Motive seien hier eher selten. Zum Problem der Farben angesprochen, möchte er unserer Redaktion allerdings nicht antworten. Rene Brandt,
genannt Bottel, betreibt seit 2001 sein Tattoo-Studio an der Lüderitzstraße.

drei Tage Wasser bekommen – am besten von unten über eine untergestellte Schale.
Der Container sollte daher Löcher im Boden haben. Im Gegensatz zu
der geschnittene Baum sollte das Weihnachtssymbol im Topf nur wenige Tage im Zimmer stehen. Und das am besten möglichst kühl, damit
er nicht antreibt und weiterwächst. Schließlich muss sie nach dem Weihnachtsfest wieder hinaus
umziehen. „Je wärmer die Pflanze steht, a fortiori Stress bedeutet das für
sie”, erklärt Sämann. Auch Bühne frei für es ratsam, den Baum wieder ein bis zwei Tage lang zu akklimatisieren und den Wurzelballen anschließend gegen Frost zu schützen, damit er nicht durchfriert. Trotzdem: Gartenexperten sind eher skeptisch, dass der Nadelbaum im Topf ein weiteres Weihnachtsfest erlebt. „Wenn der Topf groß genug, das Substrat qualitativ gut ist und der Baum regelmäßig gewässert und gedüngt wird, ist es einen Versuch wert”, sagt Sämann.
„Erfahrungsgemäß geht das aber zurück los.” Daher wird der Baum am besten in den Boden gegeben, sobald dieser frostfrei ist.
