“What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.” This timeless quote resonates deeply with the life of Mrs. Yewande Zaccheaus—a woman who has built a legacy not just in events, business, and leadership, but in the countless lives she has touched. Celebrated as a trailblazer in Nigeria’s event planning industry, she is more than an entrepreneur; she is a mentor, author, and advocate for women’s empowerment.

Born in Ibadan in April 1961, Yewande’s early years were defined by a thirst for knowledge and excellence. She studied law at the University of Lagos and later proceeded to the prestigious Cambridge University in the United Kingdom, where she earned her Master of Laws (LL.M.). These academic achievements gave her a solid foundation for a career that would straddle both the corporate and entrepreneurial worlds, shaping her into a leader who combined intellect with vision.

Her career began in the banking and legal sectors, where she held key positions, including Legal Officer at the Nigerian-American Merchant Bank and later Company Secretary and Legal Adviser at Ecobank Nigeria Plc. For over a decade, she excelled in governance, legal compliance, and strategic corporate management. Yet, she knew there was more to her purpose than a corporate title. Her decision to leave banking for entrepreneurship would prove to be one of the most defining moments of her journey.

In 2002, she founded Eventful Ltd, ushering in a new era for the Nigerian events industry. Under her leadership, Eventful grew into a household name, renowned for professionalism, creativity, and precision. From corporate functions to social gatherings, the company became a symbol of excellence. By the time she retired in 2021, Yewande had not only built a thriving company but also inspired an entire industry, proving that with vision and determination, new paths can be forged.

Her influence stretches beyond events. As a woman of faith, she authored the inspirational book series God’s Waiting Room, a heartfelt collection written to uplift couples navigating delays in childbearing. This work inspired the 2021 film The Wait, which she co-produced. Through her writing and storytelling, Yewande demonstrates the power of faith, patience, and resilience—offering hope to those who find themselves in life’s waiting seasons.

Equally remarkable is her role as a champion for women. A founding trustee and past chairperson of Women in Management and Business (WIMBIZ), she has devoted herself to empowering women across diverse fields. Her leadership and advocacy continue to echo in boardrooms, classrooms, and communities. In 2023, she was appointed a Non-Executive Director at Wema Bank Plc, a testament to her continued relevance and influence in Nigeria’s corporate landscape.

At the heart of her story is family. Married to Teni Zaccheaus Sr., she is mother to three children, including fashion entrepreneur Iretidayo Zaccheaus and musician-executive Teezee. Together, they reflect the values of creativity, excellence, and boldness instilled by their mother. Mrs. Yewande Zaccheaus embodies the truth that legacies are not built on accolades alone, but on the lives nurtured, the industries transformed, and the hope inspired in others. Indeed, her life proves that true greatness is woven, not engraved.
