Nigerian Afrobeats musician Tems, whose real name is Temilade Openiyi, has been shortlisted for the 95th Oscars awards in the Music (Original Song) category for co-writing the song “Lift me” on the Marvel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack.

This marks a major achievement for the 27-year-old artist, who has enjoyed international recognition and spotlights in recent years.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) announced its shortlists for the 2023 Oscars in 10 categories, including documentary and international features, documentary short subject, makeup and hairstyling, original score, original song, animated short, live-action short, and sound and visual effects.

The shortlist is different from the official nominations, which will be announced on January 24, 2023. The Oscars ceremony will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on March 12, 2023.

In addition to this latest achievement, Tems also received songwriting credit on Beyonce’s album “Renaissance” this year. It has indeed been a great year for the talented musician, who continues to make a name for herself in the industry.
