Irene Cara has been found dead at her home in Florida, with the cause of death being unknown. The famous singer was known for the 1980’s hits ‘Fame’ and ‘What a Feeling’.
JM Media Group president Judith A. Moose shared a statement on Cara‘s official Twitter account to inform about her death.
“It is with profound sadness that on behalf of her family I announce the passing of Irene Cara,” wrote Moose.
“The Academy Award-winning actress, singer, songwriter and producer passed away in her Florida home. Her cause of death is currently unknown and will be released when information is available.”
Cara rose to fame with the title songs of the films Fame’ and ‘Flashdance’, which have become two musical anthems of the 1980s and for which she won an Oscar and a Grammy.
