A Nigerian student, Ifeoma Amuche has emerged as a star graduate at South West University in China, earning a BSc in Chinese Language and Literature. With her outstanding academic performance, she stood out among her peers and was selected as the sole representative of international students to deliver a speech on their behalf during the graduation ceremony.
Out of a cohort of over 9,500 graduates, Ifeoma Amuche’s exceptional abilities and command of the Chinese language earned her the privilege of addressing the gathering in Chinese, making her the sole international student chosen for this honor.
Hailing from the Eziabo Village in Oko Community, Orumba North LGA, Anambra State, Miss Amuche was a former student of Federal Polytechnic Oko, where she studied Library and Information Science. Her journey into the Chinese language and culture began at the Confucius Institute in Oko, where her passion for China grew. Her linguistic talents led her to work as a Chinese translator at Dangote Refinery in Lagos and later at Sinoki LTD in Abuja, where she honed her skills.
In pursuit of her dreams, Ifeoma made the decision to further her studies in China, enrolling at South West University in 2019. Adapting swiftly to the new environment and academic challenges, she excelled in her coursework while actively engaging in various cultural and social activities. Her dedication and achievements were duly recognized, as she received numerous accolades, including the first prize in the 2022 Chinese Poems Competition, the Outstanding International Student Scholarship, and the Excellent Student Leader Award.
Not only did Ifeoma excel academically, but she also dedicated her time to giving back to the international student community. She volunteered as a teacher and mentor, supporting fellow students in their language and cultural endeavors.
Expressing her gratitude for the opportunity to study in China, Ifeoma Amuche acknowledged the invaluable support and encouragement she received from her teachers, classmates, friends, and family. She extended her heartfelt appreciation to the Chinese government and people for their warm hospitality and friendship, which contributed to her enriching educational experience.
