Breaking restrictions is the new name of Katie Meade, a model who has Down syndrome, but recently becomes the new face of Beauty & Pin-Ups, a hair care line. And it’s pretty historic even if long overdue: Her appointment marks the first time anyone with the condition has been the star of a beauty campaign.

She’s pretty amazing. A total people person, she’s an ambassador for Best Buddies, the world’s biggest organization dedicated to ending the isolation—social, physical, and economic, according to the website—of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Meade is also a former Special Olympics athlete, with a gold medal in balance beam.

It’s no surprise that when Kenny Kahn, the CEO of Beauty & Pin-Ups, met Meade, he realized she was 100 percent perfect for the job.

Meade will appear not just in these glam shots but also on the packaging for the Fearless Hair Rescue Treatment a product she personally endorses for making her hair super-soft.

Meade revealed that although, Jennifer Lopez is her style and beauty icon, it was her sisters who taught her what she knows. Makeup makes her feel her best, she says and there’s nothing we love more over here in Lipstick than women who wear makeup for them)

But the best part is her beauty philosophy: “Every day is a great day to feel good about yourself,”Feeling good makes you look good that’s my motto.”
