Today we celebrate one of Nollywood’s most talented screen stars, an energetic performer who has countlessly graced television with her magnetic performances and effortless delivery, Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi!
Born 24 November, 1974 the last of seven children to a father who was well-traveled professional and a mother, a nurse by profession, Aofiyebi was opportuned to have been schooled in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
The actress holds a degree in Sociology from the University of Lagos as well as a certificate in Drama and Theatre Arts from Westminster College, London (1992). Furthering her career even as an already established actor, the go-getter attended the prestigious Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire where she did a course on TV and films in 2010.
In 2007, Funlola Aofiyebi, a dance enthusiast won Celebrity Takes 2 dance competition, the Nigerian version of ‘Dancing with the Stars.’
Although already in tune with the acting world right from childhood, as she caught the acting bug while watching her aunt and veteran actress, Teni Aofiyebi on TV, Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi (FAR)’s shot at the big screen was opposite industry veterans – Joke Silva, Richard Mofe – Damijo in Amaka Igwe’s VIOLATED. The performance earned her a THEMA(The Movie Awards) Best Upcoming Actress.
The veteran has since starred in The Figurine, Grey Dawn, Tatu, We Don’t Live Here Anymore, Walking with Shadows among others. She is also known for hit soap Tinsel.
Besides gracing the screens, Funlola Aofiyebi has also established herself in radio presenting. She was on Star FM for fourteen years presenting her show Touch of Spice, an audience participation programme. She also sat in for Funmi Iyanda, in 2001, in the show New Dawn.
