The folks at Disney have just sent out their 2016 Preview Kit, and while many will be scrambling to post information about Star Wars: Rogue One, or Dr. Strange, I immediately discovered that they had included the first (as far as I can tell) image fromThe Queen of Katwe, the latest film from Mira Nair (Monsoon Wedding).
We first learned about this project back in 2013, and have been eagerly anticipating it.
Here is the one-liner from the press kit
“Queen of Katwe” is the colorful true story of a young girl selling corn on the streets of rural Uganda whose world rapidly changes when she is introduced to the game of chess, and, as a result of the support she receives from her family and community, is instilled with the confidence and determination she needs to pursue her dream of becoming an international chess champion.
Mira Nair’s Queen of Katwe is due to open in theaters in the fall of 2016.
