Mahanyele-Dabengwa Chief Executive Officer Naspers South Africa with a wealth of experience in investment spanning across several industries proudly stands amongst South Africa’s most influential women executives.
In 2019 she became the first Black African appointed to run Naspers Limited – a South African multinational consumer Internet firm – one of the largest technology investors in the world with a turnover of $19bn.
The top executive before joining Naspers served as executive chairperson at Sigma Capital, an AIM listed UK based privately held majority black-owned investment group. This, Phuti
founded in 2016 after spending 12 years with the Shanduka Group. While with Shanduka, she first managed Shanduka Energy before working her way up to the top spot and attaining the position of CEO of the group of companies. Prior to Shanduka she worked at the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) as Head of Project Finance.
Prior to the DBSA she worked at an international investment banking firm, Fieldstone Private Capital Group for six years. A believer of giving back to her community, Phuti Mahanyele-Dabengwa has learnt her time, resources and expertise to empowering the youths. She is also a part of the “Dignity Day” programme, led by Young Global Leaders of the World Economic Forum, helping empower and preach dignity to young people.
Her brilliant career has seen her get well deserved accolades and awards including: In May 2016, Phuti became a member of the Rutgers University Hall of Distinguished Alumni, in 2019 she was chosen as Forbes/CNBC Africa Businesswoman of the Year, In 2013, she was awarded a “Distinguished Achievement” Award by The Douglass Society, Africa Investors’ “Leading Africa Woman in Business of the Year” in 2012 among others.
Ms. Mahanyele-Dabengwa has served on several corporate boards, including Vodacom, Gold Fields and Comair.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University in the United States and a Master of Business Administration from De Montfort University in the United Kingdom.
