The Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA) has reinforced its commitment to cancer awareness, prevention, and patient support through financial assistance and advocacy initiatives.In a concerted effort to alleviate the financial burden faced by cancer patients, DEPOWA has provided financial aid amounting to ₦500,000 each to 52 patients and ₦3 million to three patients, ensuring they receive essential medical care and treatment. This intervention highlights the association’s dedication to improving health outcomes and supporting those affected by cancer, particularly in underserved communities.




Speaking on the initiative, Mrs. Oghogho Gwabin Musa, President of DEPOWA, emphasized the importance of raising awareness and taking proactive steps to combat the disease. She reiterated that early detection through regular screenings, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and accessing timely medical interventions can significantly reduce cancer risks and improve survival rates.






As part of its advocacy efforts, DEPOWA is also calling for increased public awareness, urging individuals to educate themselves on cancer prevention, support those affected, and advocate for better healthcare policies. By fostering community engagement and collaboration with stakeholders in the health sector, the association hopes to drive sustainable change and improve cancer care across Nigeria.
