Clarice Wambugha Mwakazi, the visionary founder of the Global Women Impact Foundation (GLOWI), has been a beacon of empowerment for women and girls in Kenya’s Coast region.

Through GLOWI, she has impacted over 1,000 women and girls by providing education, mentorship, and empowerment programs. Her initiatives focus on equipping women with skills in sewing, tailoring, embroidery, design, customer service, sales, leadership, and personal development, fostering economic independence and self-reliance.

Beyond GLOWI, Clarice’s entrepreneurial spirit led her to establish Mas Uniform Centre, a business specializing in school and staff uniforms, corporate wear, and safety gear. This venture not only creates job opportunities for women and girls but also offers free training in various skills, further enhancing their employability.

Additionally, her hospitality business, Al Marisa Caterers Limited, has generated jobs for both women and men, providing seasonal employment opportunities, especially for the youth during events in Mombasa and Nairobi.

Clarice’s commitment to community development extends to her volunteer work with the Agricultural Society of Kenya and her active participation in Women in Business, a platform dedicated to fostering economic independence and entrepreneurship among women. Her multifaceted approach to empowerment underscores her belief that when you empower a woman, you empower the world.

In 2024, Clarice’s impactful work earned her recognition as one of the 50 Most Influential Women in Africa by the Africa Women Summit, highlighting her dedication to uplifting women and driving positive change in society.
